Case Study

Vaska Ramanska has build this using SAP ERP Central Component, for recording the business transactions, and SAP BW as its data warehousing system to analyze information and make decisions.

The purpose of this case study is company X can plan its profitability for 2014, using actual sales and cost data from 2013.

Flow of data from SAP ERP to SAP BPC

SAP ECC ( Sales and Cost )

SAP BPC for NetWeaver - Contains (Actual and planned data Sales and Cost, plan data manualy entered on SAP

 

 

 

Next we will build the object necessary for sorting the actual sales and cost data in SAP BW, the InfoObjects to be included below.

Creating and Activating InfoObjects

1.      Open the InfoObjetc edit with Transaction RSD1 ( figure below)

2.Under TYPE, select CHARACTERISTIC, beside Version select Active/Revised

3. Enter the name of the InfoObject

4. Select Display, to see if the object exist and is active.

5. In this case, the InfoObject exist which I created previously.

Activating an SAP- Supplied InfoObject

Before Characteristics can be used they need to be activated. By default, none of the SAP supplied InfoObjects are active.

1.      Open Data Warehouse workbench: BI CONTENT using transaction RSA1

 

 

 

2.      Select BI CONTENT window

3.      Select ObjectTypes

4.      Under GROUPING select, ONLY NECESSARY OBJECTS

 

5.      COLLECTION MODE TYPE, select COLLECT AUTOMATICALLY

 

 

6.      Under InfoObject, double click on SELECT OBJECT, this opens the Input help for Metadata

7.      Double click on SELECT OBJECT

8.      In the INPUT FOR METADATA dialog box, select all of the SAP-delivered InfoObject that need to be activated, for this case this would be the InfoObjects in table 1.1, 1.2, 1.3.

 

9.      Double click on each ObjectName, this will include them in the Collected Object section below

 

After the SAP- supplied InfoObjects are activated, the custom specific InfoObjects can be created and activated, as per table 1.1, 1.2, 1.3.

 

Creating and Activating Custom Characteristic InfoObject

 

1.      Create the InfoObject ZACCOUNT, this InfoObject should be a characteristic InfoObject.
